The S.C. Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators (SCIAAI) is proud to announce the 2019 SCIAAI Annual Fire Investigator’s Seminar, President Barry Grimm of the IAAI will be the instructor for this seminar. President Grimm is a Lead Instructor at the National Fire Academy. President Grimm teaches fire investigation courses throughout the country, and he helps produce some of the IAAI CFI Trainer courses.
This course will be conducted on the sweet sixteen topics of NFPA 1033. Individuals will have the opportunity of participating in hands-on activities with the use of live burn cells. Therefore, this course will include updated information regarding NFPA 1033 and NFPA 921. Therefore, students will receive data and knowledge inference to Fire Science, Chemistry and Dynamics, Mass Loss, Ventilation, Methodology and Technology, Investigations and Evidence encountered during those investigations. Furthermore, there will be a group project participation regarding documentation of a fire scene, evidence collection, report writing, and producing and explaining their investigation findings with the use of a Power Points presentation.
This training is scheduled for a minimum of 32 contact hours. Testing options will be discussed at the training event. Member attendance fee is Free and Non-member attendance fee is $250.
Pre-registration is required: Register online for this class at www.sciaai.org. The cutoff date for registration is Monday, May 13, 2019. Non-member attendance must be pre-approved by the SCIAAI Board. Pending applicants pay “member fee” to attend. Those wishing to apply for SCIAAI membership can download an application from the website at www.sciaai.org.
Lunch is on your own. The SC Fire Academy serves a buffet lunch. The cost of the lunch is $7 per day. Please advise if you wish to eat the buffet so enough food will be prepared.
